*I’m by no means associated with the Dead Kennedys, Jello Biafra or Alternative Tentacles, so please don’t sue me. I’m too poor to afford a lawyer. * Dead Kennedys Frankenchrist Track 05 – Chicken Farm Lyrics: Another rainy morning mingling at the market Bartering for food for another day Rifle shots ring out behind the crumbling buildings Executions have begun Sprawled in the square are today’s broken bodies Lots to pick clean if you’re first and quick Rift through their pockets, peel off their clothes To wear or sell when you wash out the blood Run my little brother Run to the chicken farm Opportunity is calling You might even find a watch We’re going down To the chicken farm Napalm rains no more But the war goes on Little brother died playing at the dump today He found a new toy and held it up proud Then it blew him to bits How many more children Will be killed or die at birth Deformed by Agent Orange In our food chain forever more We’re going down To the chicken farm This time we’ll buy our way out I’ve got a plan; you wait and see I smuggled you this map In the gash I sliced in my thigh I hope I’m there to join you, love We’re blown to bits one by one in this camp We crawl shaking through the fields at gunpoint all day To defuse leftover landmines-by hand We shiver on the deck and stiffen for the worst If the pirates come around we might as well be dead We’ll be thrown in the sea Or butchered if we’re women All in the name of gold One foot in a land we can barely …
What a haunting ass guitar riff! I love it!!!!!
JELLO 4 PRESIDENT
@wgilroy
thank you
Watch: ‘The Killing Fields’ sometime. There where dead bodies floating down the Mekong river for miles… a chicken farm is the place wherein people were executed for things such as wearing eye-glasses (“intellectuals’) etc.
Such a shame that I will never get to see DK live to who anyone who saw them live I am truly jealous.
They really were great musicians, just a shame all but Jello are a bunch of sell outs.
spot on niger
dont eat chicken bergers!!!
did this song make it big? i fucking love this tune!!
When rifling thru their clothes (stealing from the dead) you just might find a watch….maybe even a rolex!!!!OOOoohhhh!!!!Wouldn’t that be exciting?!?
i understand the whole song except the part about finding a watch can someone explain that to me
a lot of their songs are about cambodia so maybe that will help people who dont know much about it to learn about pol pot, most people at my school dont even know who he is
Such a bright yet haunting riff.
one of my favorite dk songs
Oh, believe me. I know what it means.
Pol Pot*
Watch the fucking Killing Fields, Read a goddamned book on the Pathet Lao, The Khmer Rouge, or the NLF for christ sake!!! Find out who Po Pot was and why Buddhist Monks were setting themselves on fire (or how it was put nicely: Self-Immolation)under the US backed Dictator Ngo Dinh Diem!
My God! This isn’t about Farming Poultry or Vegetarianism, or deformed chickens at KFC!!! It is about the War in SE Asia and ‘Yankee Hospitality’ to the Boat People!!! “Boat People Go home” Good Grief!!! Anyone who had a relative in Vietnam (Or Laos or Cambodia) ask them what a Chicken-farm is, and why you might “find a watch’ or something that would “blow you to bits”, why would they have to wash the blood off of clothes??
I like killing animals and eating their bloody body parts and so did your ancestors or else you would not exist. Without consuming meat you develop a defiecency in Iron and if you like not being healthy that is fine by me. Either way this song is nothing about vegetarianism.
its about vietnam
wallflower probly doesn’t know either…..Basically, it’s about survival in a 3rd world country.
If you can’t interpret Dead Kennedys songs you probably shouldn’t be listening to them.
what does this song actually mean anyway.??
does any one know were i can find records by the dead kennedys on line,in austin, galveston or houston?
Why is everybody arguing about vegetarianism? This song has NOTHING to do with factory farming or reducing one’s meat consumption. If any of you bothered to listen to the lyrics, you’ll find this song has political meaning and references US military activity in Vietnam (Napalm, Agent Orange, etc.)
I CHANGED MY SOCKS TO THIS TUNE.
