I wonder if the P was the one who flipped out over the spanking, or whether it was her parents.
Either way, a single spank on the butt with your hand is not a life-threatening injury, and it’s kind of silly for the P to think the D has to take counseling, anger management classes or parenting classes. I mean, sheesh.
I agree that to be completely obedient is quite naive, I don’t believe you should NEVER be obedient, and believing that you should NEVER be obedient is stupid (example: Parents tell you to look both ways before crossing the streets…don’t obey that rule and you could get hurt). HITTING your child and SPANKING your child are quite different. Hitting your child insinuates that you are doing it to hurt them, spanking is not to harm the child. Many children were spanked as kids and are fine now.
@krwlngblue I think the distinction needs to be made between “spanking” and beating. According to my mother, she “spanked” me because she loved me. However, her version of spanking was to make me go outside and pick a switch from a bush to be “spanked” with. More often than not, I ended up with bleeding legs and arms, but it was to make me a better person!?! Fortunately, I was able to use the experience to realize how NOT to raise my own children. But way too many can’t and their kids suffer.

Being “obedient” is also fucking naive. It teaches you nothing except to kiss ass and take shit from people just because they are older. Age means nothing, people need to earn their respect. Question all authority. There is a difference between being rude and just being a total jackass. Just because you don’t automatically obey your parents doesn’t mean you are a bad kid. Some parents are terrible. e.g. parents who hit their kids!
Parents who need to spank their children are parents who cannot raise their children WITHOUT having to resort to violence. Learn how to teach your children properly through positive reinforcement.
My parents spanked us when we were young and we all turned out well, but they also NEVER laid a finger on my younger sister (big age gap) and she is still a straight A student, very respectful, and very mature. The only difference is now they’ve learned how to properly raise kids.
I was spanked growing up and it did me good. It taught me right from wrong, how to be respectful and obedient. It is a shame how people think spanking is abuse nowadays. Years ago when I was in a grocery store a father had the cops called on him because he popped his son twice on the bottom. That kid was throwing the WORST temper tantrum and I think he got off easy.

Just shows you should never ever date a woman with kids. The kids just become a burden for you and the source of trouble in the relationship. Stick with childless women and you will have relationships free of these kinds of problems.
